The Edisen application now offers a full featured Digital Asset Management with the rollout of the Delete feature. This is also the first step towards introducing lifecycle management in the system for all objects and entities.
Overview
This feature gives the ability to the user to first delete any collections/folders/assets when they have enough permission to do so. Users can choose to delete any unwanted assets and free up the storage space and reduce clutter.
Permissions
Editors and owners of the collection/folder/asset will have the permission to delete the collection/folder/asset. When you choose to Delete an object, you will see the following warning message.
Viewing and Restoring Deleted Objects
Switch the view to "Deleted" to view deleted objects at that location.
The Deleted objects get automatically permanently deleted after a system default setting of 90 days.
Before an object gets automatically permanently deleted, you can choose to restore the object.
What happens on permanent delete?
When an asset gets permanently deleted, which is automatically done by the system, any revisions, attachments, proxy downloads, that take up storage space will also get permanently deleted and free up the tags, comments, etc associated with that asset.
When a folder gets permanently deleted, any assets belonging to the folder gets permanently deleted.
When a collection gets permanently deleted, any folders and assets belonging to the collection get permanently deleted.
Note
At this time, the user cannot choose to permanently delete any object. Permanent deletion is only an automatic system functionality on (soft) deleted objects.
The system default setting before an object is permanently deleted is 90 days. This setting can be changed by the admins in your organization and can be anywhere between 1 to 365 days.
Also note that any collection/folder/asset in a share link that gets archived or deleted will not appear in the share link anymore.
