Welcome to the user guide for the new Chat feature in the Edisen Platform! This feature allows users to chat directly within the platform, facilitating collaboration and communication. In this guide, we will walk you through the various functionalities of the Chat feature and how to make the most of it.

Introduction to the Chat Feature

The Chat feature in Edisen Platform enables users to engage in both Public and Private Chats that are tied directly to Collections, Folders, and Assets. Public Chats allow for discussions related to specific Collections, Folders, or Assets, while Private Chats enable users to have direct conversations with one or more individuals.

Additionally, Edisen Chat allows you to effortlessly link and reference content within the platform directly in your chats. This feature promotes seamless collaboration and enhances productivity.

Now, let's dive into the different sections of this guide, each focusing on a specific aspect of the Chat feature.

Before you start using the Chat feature, it's essential to familiarize yourself with the Chat Panel. The Chat Panel serves as the central hub for accessing and managing your chats. Navigating the Chat Panel

1. Click Chat icon.

2. Click arrows to scroll through the Chat Tabs

3. To view Chats where you were @mentioned, Click on the Mentions tab.

4. To view Personal Chats with other Users, Click on the Personal Tab

5. To view Group Chats, click on the Groups Tab

6. To view Private Chats, click on the Private Tab

7. To view Public Chats, click on the Public Tab

8. To start a new Chat or Group Chat, click on the New Chat Button

Public Chats on Collections, Folders, and Assets

Public Chats provide a platform for users to engage in discussions related to specific Collections, Folders, or Assets. Joining or viewing a Public Chat is a great way to stay updated and collaborate with others who share similar interests or work on the same projects. To understand how to join or view Public Chats, click on the respective links below:

Public Chat on Collections

1. Click the Details icon for the Collection you want to Chat on.

2. Click the Chat icon in the Details Drawer.

3. Click "PUBLIC"

4. Click "JOIN PUBLIC CHAT"

Public Chat on Folders

1. Click the Details icon for the Folder you want to Chat on.

2. Click the Chat icon in the Details Drawer.

3. Click "PUBLIC"

4. Click "JOIN PUBLIC CHAT"

Public Chat on Assets

1. Click the Details icon for the Asset you want to Chat on.

2. Click the Chat icon in the Details Drawer.

3. Click "PUBLIC"

4. Click "JOIN PUBLIC CHAT"

Private Chats for Collections, Folders, and Assets

Private Chats allow users to have direct conversations with one or more individuals. These chats provide a secure and focused environment for discussing sensitive information or collaborating on specific tasks. To learn more about viewing or creating Private Chats for Collections, Folders, and Assets, click on the respective links below:

Private Chat on Collections

1. Click the Details icon for the Collection you want to Chat on.

2. Click the Chat icon in the Details Drawer.

3. Click "PRIVATE"

4. Click "NEW PRIVATE CHAT"

5. Click the dropdown to select one or more users to add to the Private Chat.

6. Select the user(s) from the list.

7. Click the Name field to optionally name the Private Chat.

8. Click the Message field to add a message to start the Private Chat.

9. Click "SEND"

Private Chat on Folders

1. Click the Details icon for the Folder you want to Chat on.

2. Click the Chat icon in the Details Drawer.

3. Click "PRIVATE"

4. Click "NEW PRIVATE CHAT"

5. Click the dropdown to select, or type the name of one or more users to add to the Private Chat.

6. Select the user(s) from the list.

7. Click the Name field to optionally name the Private Chat.

8. Click the Message field to add a message to start the Private Chat.

9. Click "SEND"

Private Chat on Assets

1. Click the Details icon for the Collection you want to Chat on.

2. Click the Chat icon in the Details Drawer.

3. Click "PRIVATE"

4. Click "NEW PRIVATE CHAT"

5. Click the dropdown to select, or type the name of one or more users to add to the Private Chat.

6. Select the user(s) from the list.

7. Click the Name field to optionally name the Private Chat.

8. Click the Message field to add a message to start the Private Chat.

9. Click "SEND"

Private Chats Directly with Users

In addition to engaging in Public Chats and Private Chats tied to Collections, Folders, and Assets, you can also start private conversations directly with other users. This feature enables you to have one-on-one or group discussions outside the context of specific items in the platform. To learn how to start a private conversation with another user, follow these steps

Private Chat Directly with Users

1. Click Chat icon.

2. Click on the New Chat Button.

3. Click the dropdown to select, or type the name of one or more users to add to the Private Chat.

4. Select the user(s) from the list.

5. Click the Message field to add a message to start the Private Chat.

6. Click "SEND"

Adding Edisen Content to a Chat

One of the key advantages of the Edisen Chat feature is the ability to directly link and reference content within the platform. This functionality enhances collaboration by allowing users to seamlessly share relevant information and resources during conversations. To understand how to add Edisen Content to a Chat use the following guide

Add Edisen Content to a Chat

1. Click on the "Add Edisen Content" icon.

2. Select the Content to be added to the Chat.

3. Click "ADD CONTENT"

4. Content is added to the chat.

Leaving Public Chats

If you wish to leave a Public Chat on a Collection, Folder, or Asset, you have the option to do so. This section will guide you on how to leave Public Chats when they are no longer relevant to you. To understand the process of leaving Public Chats use the following guide

Leave Public Chats

1. Navigate to the Collection, Folder, or Asset you wish to leave the Public Chat for.

2. Click the Chat icon in the Details Drawer.

3. Click "PUBLIC"

4. Select the Public Chat.

Tip: Instead of navigating directly to the Collection, Folder, or Asset, you can also access the Public Chat from the Chat Panel.
Skip to Step 9 if you want to use the Collection, Folder, or Asset navigation method

5. Click the Chat Icon

6. Use the arrow key to navigate to the Public Tab

7. Click on the Public Tab

8. Click on the Public Chat that you want to leave

Tip: Continue from Step 4 if you did not use the Chat Panel

9. Click the context menu.

10. Click "Leave Chat"
